Sojawa | Jigolle Group

A traditional Hausa performance by the Jigolle Group, rooted in the musical heritage of Niger and led by the vocals and Gurmi of Soumana Kokon Gurmi. Jigolle is a traditional Nigerien music group from the Hausa cultural tradition. Based in Niamey and led by Soumana Taro, known as Soumana Kokon Gurmi, the group brings together a singer and Gurmi player with a traditional Kabangu talking drum player. With nearly 30 years of musical experience, Soumana Taro and the group have performed across Niger, preserving and promoting traditional Hausa music, singing, and dance.
